Or have we made some progress? Probably the former, but one can hope its the latter.

If you’re wondering what the donation button is up for, a lot of people are suggesting we start doing some off-web advertising. So if you want to pitch in on that respect, go right ahead, though I’m certainly not pleading for it.
Also, we’re getting close to 1500 signatures! Thanks for the support, everyone. We’re likely going to have a bit on Global soon, and my interview with Steve Dangle should be up in a bit as well.
As always, sign early and sign often, and check out the facebook and twitter.
Phones aren’t ringing so much like yesterday, though I’m sure I’ll hear from someone today.
The Toronto Sun had an article about the cause, that was on Page 10 of their paper.
The only thing missing is the credit for supplying me with my new Grabovski jersey, for which I have to thank CoolHockey.com for supplying.
Back on topic, we’ve also hit 1000 signatures. Amazing. Thanks for the support everyone! If the ball keeps rolling, I don’t think they could say no.
A common complaint I’ve been getting.
“Jeff, you’re wrong, this petition is wrong. The Leafs wore this logo in 1967, they changed in 1966!”

This is very weakly accurate.
They changed after the regular season, which was 70 games.
They would go on to play the playoffs in this Logo, in honor of the 100th year of the official existence of Canada.
They played 12 playoff games in this jersey.
Therefore, the 35 point Leaf was used in 85.3% of Leafs games that year.
ADVANTAGE:

Brief update for you guys on what’s been going on the last few days.
1. My ‘major Toronto media’ source was the Toronto Sun, who will be doing an article Thursday. Was going to be today, but they pushed it back a day in order to give it more attention. This one will have me talking and rocking a new Mikhail Grabovski 3rd jersey, supplied by CoolHockey.com (they gave it to me for free due to my Leafs jersey collection ironically including 2 homes (Kubina, Schenn), 1 away (Gilmour), but no 3rd. Damn you eBay and your irresistible value on Ballard Logo’d jerseys!).

2. The Toronto Star had an article about us today, so grab a Star if you haven’t already! I was busy for most of the day, so I didn’t get the contact email until around 9 PM, but thankfully major supporter of the petition Patrick Clayton (also known as LeafErikson on HFBoards) talked about it. Was hoping I’d be referred to as more than a young guy and possibly with my actual name, but no big deal.
However, just to clear up a fact: It was erroneously claimed that the site was made in response to an HFBoards thread saying the same thing. However, the site was already in progress, in fact the first verison of it a year ago was scrapped, and this is a revival. HFBoards has had a huge part in the growth of it and deserve massive kudos, but this site was going up HF thread or not.
3. I’ll be on AM900 CHML Hamilton at 11:45 AM today talking about the cause. Hopefully I’m more awake for that then I am at the moment, haha.
4. Thanks to all the blogs that have covered this, and the people who have retweeted this on twitter. It helps a ton!
5. More goodies coming soon…I’ve been away from my main computer the last few days so I haven’t been able to fire up Photoshop.
6. UPDATE! I’ll be on CBC Radio 99.1 at 3:40 PM.
7. Latest Update! The New York Times has given us a mention.

Thanks for the continuing support, everyone!
It seems that 90% of the emails I’ve been getting regarding the site are people sending me concept jerseys.
Which in theory is fine, but it seems everyone’s missing the point.
One of the reasons for the proposal to switch to the 1939 logo is for the team to stay traditional, to be more like the rest of the NHL’s original 6 teams.
Things like this (which was actually emailed to me), are not what we’re looking for.
So my policy regarding running concepts is this.
1. You cannot use a logo you made yourself, or the 1970-2009 logo. I’d prefer the 1927-1938 and the 1967 Playoffs-1970 ones aren’t used, but so be it.
2. Your jersey must MATCH a jersey that’s already existed. Your job is not to create something new with your concept, its to put one of the older designs onto an RBK Edge uniform. Here is a good spot to find some jerseys you can work with.
Sorry for being so blunt, but I’m kind of fed up with people sending me stuff that is counter-productive to this sites goals.
Thanks for the Mention Steve!
This one is rather simple. The Leafs are the only one of the Original 6 teams to make a significant change to their uniform since 1964. If you don’t count the Hawks removing the CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS black circle around their logo, since 1950 when the Bruins brought in the spoked B.
Here is the mini poster.

I’ll be adding various facts and accompanying graphics to the site every now and then, and today, we look at sheer performance under the logos.
This may be the most obvious example if you’re the kind who believe in jinx’s and bad mojo.
The Leafs have won 11 Stanley Cups in their history (not counting the Arenas and St. Pats one each), and have lost in the finals 9 times, for a total of 20 finals appearances.
The 39-67 logo was the logo for ten of the cup appearances (NOTE: 1967 included, as that was the jersey they wore the majority of the year, the centennial one was brought in during the playoffs), and 4 of those finals appearances. For a team that’s been around for 82 years now, its amazing that if you remove those 28 years you only have 1 cup and 5 finals appearances in 54 years, and those came in the span of 14 years that had logos that weren’t the current logo.
What have the Leafs done in the 39 years with this current logo?
Zero Stanley Cups.
Zero Finals Appearances.
Four conference finals appearances, all in a 10 year timeframe.
That is all. Enjoy your avatar, sig, and miniposter.

Alright, I had some fun with photoshop tonight, and this is what I came up with.
Our away jersey, as expected, is the exact same as our 3rd from this season.

The home jersey is more or less based off that but with normal shoulders and wrists.

The third jersey is based on the 1967 design, as everyone probably agrees with if we were to have a 3rd.

And last, but not least, similar to what we used to do in the early 2000’s, have a special St. Patricks Day jersey.

Thoughts?
